Many spices are synonymous with the cuisine of a specific region. Few, however, transcend borders like cardamom. This aromatic spice is equally at home in Swedish Glögg as it is in Turkish coffee. And of course you can’t have Garam Masala, baharat or berbere without it.

Origin Story

Cardamom is originally from India and Sri Lanka, but its use spread through Southeast Asia in ancient times, and into the Middle East, Eastern Africa, and all the way to Scandinavia. It has long been regarded as a “premium” spice, held in similar esteem as saffron and vanilla.

Nutrient Powerhouse

Consumers expect more from ingredients than just flavour. Cardamom provides a nutrient boost in the form of vitamins and minerals. Vitamins A and C are found within, as well as potassium, calcium, iron, and more. It has also long been used in traditional Ayurveda treatments.

Flavour For All

Sweet, floral, and lemony, but with a bit of heat, it is incredibly versatile. Beverages, desserts, seafood, vegetarian application - they can all benefit from the unique punch of taste and aroma cardamom provides.

For label appeal and that real international taste consumers are after, cardamom is your passport to flavour success.
